The designer of the Bestevaer 53ST yachts, Gerard Dykstra, founder of Dykstra Naval Architects, may well have largely retired from his architectural agency by now, but he is still very much involved in the development and design of sailing yachts. The ’Best Day Ever’ was inspired by his own private yacht for example, also an aluminium Bestevaer 53ST, built by K&M Yachtbuilders.

The Bestevaer 53ST ‘Best Day Ever’ will certainly stand out in any harbour, with its bare aluminium hull and green non-slip walking surfaces. It has a beautiful carbon mast on deck, and a rudder post in the cockpit.

The interior is light and open. White surfaces, mahogany cupboards and a 'beamed ceiling' all give it a classic modern look, while the coloured furnishings add a homely touch. The front cabin has two separate berths. Behind it, we find the bathroom with toilet. Opposite this, there is a separate berth. The kitchen is kitted with all possible conveniences of course and the saloon has a large table in the lounge area. The favourite spot on board is still the pilot house, thanks to its open views all round and contact with fellow sailors outdoors and below. There is another small bunk under the pilot house, the best place to nap while on watch.
