Another trend is fast and light racing or cruising boats, who needs some high level of sailing experience and which are not for pleasure blue water cruising.There are some clients who is looking for solid built seagoing boat with comfort and with minimal dependence on modern electronic devices and equipment, which need much attention and service.Most of such owners choose from old built Scandinavian, American or Dutch yachts, which are already about 15-30 years old now.After many contacts and summary of discussion with such clients, who followed my projects (MT-37 Nordic Duck, M-53 Meta, M-64 Atoa), I feel that my new yacht has to include the traditional comfort of old cruisers in combination with simple handling, low maintenance and rather good sailing ability in open seas.Some points of their wish list are accepted by me, some points no:They talk about: aluminium hull with build-in keel, long keel or rudder skeg, central cocpit, simple classic interior, cutter or ketch rig, pilothouse or deck salon, 40-55 ft long, draft 2m or less, no teak on deck, bow platform with 2 anchors, propeller shaft, wind self-steering, 2-3 watertight bulkheads, good storage capacity, slab reefing, dinghy davits or garage, one owners cabin, one toilet with separate shower, one guest cabin.Besides their wishes, the boat should have own style and be a good looking yacht, in line with traditional old boats with of Bristol Pilot Cutter or similar |
